For the first time in 40 years, Kerala may break the cycle of voting out the incumbent party as initial trends indicate victory for Pinarayi Vijayan led LDF government.
71 seats are needed for a party or an alliance to form the government in Kerala assembly which consists of 140 constituencies..
The Indian Express has reported that the ruling LDF is leading in 32 constituencies and the opposition UDF is leading in 15 seats.
According to the website of the Election Commission of India, BJP is leading in one constituency. BJP's Metroman E Sreedharan is leading in Palakkad constituency by 1,804 votes.
For the 2021 assembly elections, all exit polls predicted victory of the ruling CPM led LDF alliance in Kerala.
