Kerala Madrassa Teacher Yusuf Arrested For Sexually Abusing Several Minors, Claims He Did It In ‘Revenge’ Students at a madrasa - Representative Image

A 63-year-old Islamic Educator in Kerala was arrested on Saturday (1 June) on charges of sexually abusing several minor students of his class in Thalayolaparambu in Kottayam district, New Indian Express reported.

Yusuf, a Madrasa teacher originally hailing from Aluva, was arrested at Kodungalloor by the Thalayolaparambu police following a complaint from the Mahallu committee, which is the executive body of the mosque under which the madrassa operates.

According to the police, Yusuf is a repeat offender and has raped more than a dozen kids. Given that the parents were reluctant to file complaints, he managed to escape the law until Saturday.

After being arrested, Yusuf claimed that he was sexually abusing kids since the age of 25 and that he himself was a victim of sexual assault when he was a child. The Islamic cleric claimed that he "took revenge" on the man who sexually assaulted him by raping the person's daughter.
