The intra-family feud among Lalu Prasad Yadav’s sons is out in the open once again, with the elder son Tej Pratap Yadav announcing yesterday (1 April) that he would set up his own political party, the ‘Lalu Rabri Morcha’, reports News18.
This new political entity may field candidates in as many as 20 seats in Bihar in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Tej Pratap has also confirmed that his resignation from the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) youth wing last week was caused by his strained relationship with his younger brother and current head of the RJD, Tejashwi Yadav.
Taking a dig at Tejashwi, Tej Pratap remarked that his brother was had turned against him due to the influence of sycophants.
The most recent point of contention between the Yadav brothers was Tej Pratap asking for two seats to be set aside for his close aides, a demand which was rejected by the party. Instead, the RJD selected Tej Pratap’s estranged father-in-law Chandrika Rai as its candidate from one of the constituencies.
