Markaz Nizamuddin Chief Maulana Saad Untraceable, Has FIR Against Him For Violating Covid-19 Guidelines

Maulana Saad, the chief of Markaz Nizamuddin which hosted the infamous Tablighi Jamaat event is currently untraceable as per Delhi Police. He is said to be absconding from 28 March and efforts are on to track him down.

Yesterday (31 March) an FIR was filed against Maulana Saad and other Nizamuddin Markaz officials for violating government orders to restrict religious gatherings and taking safety measures for prevention and treatment of COVID-19.
The FIR has been filed under the Disaster Management Act, 1987 along with sections 269, 270, 271 and 120-B of the IPC.
As per reports, at least 2,000 people gathered at the Markaz for Tablighi Jamaat event till mid-March. Subsequently over 440 individuals began showing symptoms of Covid-19.
50 in Tamil Nadu, 24 in Delhi and 32 attendees from Telangana have already tested positive for Covid-19. Six Covid-19 deaths in Telangana have also been linked to the Jamaat event.
