The Home Secretary of Britain, Sajid Javid, has revoked the citizenship of Jihadi bride Shamima Begum, who travelled to Syria from her home in east London in December 2014 and married an Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (IS) fighter, reports The Telegraph.
According to the report, the 19-year old Jihadi bride had expressed the desire to return to the United Kingdom with her newborn son but after this decision she will be banned from entering the country.
The move, however, would not render Begum, who grew up in Bethnal Green east London, stateless as she reportedly has dual Bangladeshi nationality.
The UK home secretary made the decision “in light of the circumstances” of Begum, officials said in a letter to her family in east London.
"Please find enclosed papers that relate to a decision taken by the Home Secretary, to deprive your daughter, Shamima Begum, of her British citizenship,” the letter read.
"In light of the circumstances of your daughter, the notice of the Home Secretary's decision has been served on file today (19 February), and the order removing her British citizenship has subsequently been made," it added.
The letter asked Begum’s family to make her aware of the decision of the home secretary. It also added that the ISIS bride has a right to appeal against the decision.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
