Sandalwood actor Sangeetha Bhat has kicked off the #MeToo movement in Karnataka film industry by posting a three-page social media post to allege sexual harassment which she had to endure.
She joined the industry right after her father’s death, at the age of 15, to support her family.
She in the post accused various actors, producers and technicians for misbehaving with her on several occasions. She says, in her post, that a casting director from her first project masturbated in the car while she sat right beside him. A dozen such incidents have been narrated in her post.
Reasoning why she hasn’t named anyone specifically, she says that she has concerns for the well-being of the accused’ family.
According to a report in Deccan Herald, she is undergoing treatment for depression that has been plaguing her as a result of her bitter experiences.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
