Terrorists Attack Army Camp
One Border Security Force (BSF) soldier was killed while another injured in a terror attack on an army camp on Sunday (2 October). The camp is located in Janbazpora on the outskirts of the Baramulla city, 54 km from the capital Srinagar.
The terrorist, who gained entry into the 46 RR camp through an adjoining BSF camp, fired indiscriminately and lobbed grenades. The firing has come to a halt and terrorists were not able to breach the army camp parameters, an army official informed.
India Ratifies Paris Climate Deal
India formally joined the Paris Climate Change Agreement on Sunday, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The ratification by India is expected to give momentum to the implementation of measures to control global warming.
The move comes a week after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the ratification of the landmark deal will happen on 2 October, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The agreement will enter into force one month after 55 countries that account for 55 percent of global emissions ratify the agreement.
ISIS Terror Module Unearthed In Kerala
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested six members of a fresh terror module, inspired by the Islamic State (IS). All the six will be presented before a special NIA court today (3 October) at Ernakulam, sources in the anti-terror probe agency said.
Officials say that the accused persons were collecting explosive to give shape to their plans. NIA was assisted by police personnel from Kerala, Delhi and Telangana during the operations.
Jayalalithaa's Health ‘Improving’
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa "continues to improve", Apollo Hospital has said in its latest medical bulletin released yesterday (2 October). The 68-year-old was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai on September 22 after she complained of "fever and dehydration."
This is for the first time since she was admitted that the hospital has informed she was being treated for infection. "Chief Minister has been advised a few more days of stay in the hospital,” the bulletin added.
