Chinese construction workers employed for a hydropower project in Nepal attacked the local villagers with daggers after the latter protest against them flouting lockdown ordered in the country, ANI has reported.
As per the report, the workers had recently come to the country from China and were travelling on trucks carrying construction material for the Nyadi Hydropower Project in Lamjung district.
The convoy soon reached the Marsyangdi village whose locals had placed road blockades to prevent the unnecessary movement of people. The Chinese workers then attempted to remove the blockade which angered the village youths.
After the villagers began protesting the Chinese workers retaliated by attacking them with daggers. As per the report, the locals were also angered by the Chinese workers’ refusal to adhere to the government mandated lockdown.
Nepal like India has been under complete lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
