The National Investigation Agency today (19 December) filed charges against Pakistan-based militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad's chief Maulana Masood Azhar and three others for plotting and executing the 2 January terror attack at an air force base in Pathankot. The JeM chief and others have been accused in the chargesheet of setting up terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistani part of Kashmir, to carry out terror attacks on India.
Others named in the chargesheet include Mufti Abdul Rauf Asghar, Shahid Latif and Kashif Jan, the NIA said. The chargesheet submitted in a special court of the agency in Panchkula, Punjab, said that Red Corner Notice has been issued by the Interpol against Azhar, Asghar and Latif, while a Red Corner Notice against Kashif Jan was in process.
The terror attack on Pathankot air force base camp on 2 January left seven soldiers dead after four militants managed to enter the camp.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
