On Bahrain Visit, PM Modi Launches $4.2 Million Project For Redevelopment Of 200-Year-Old Sri Krishna Temple

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (25 August) initated the launch of a $4.2 million project to redevelope the 200-year-old Sri Krishna temple in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, reports PTI.
Modi was in Bahrain on the last leg of a three-nation trip which saw him also visit France and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In Manama during his visit to the Shreenathji Temple, he offered prayers to the deity and after than unveiled a plaque marking the official launch of the redevelopment project.
"Thank you Bahrain for the warmth and affection. PM @narendramodi concludes his historic visit with prayers at the 200 years old Shreenathji Temple in #Manama, the oldest temple in the region. The temple reflects the pluralism of Bahraini society," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
The redevelopment project will take place over a land area of 16,500 square feet and the new structure once finished will stand four storeys tall with 45,000 square feet of floor space. The temple complex will have the sanctum sanctorum as well as prayer halls.
