The Chief of the Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat, has said that there is a need to do another surgical strike against terrorists like India did in September 2016. Army Chief is also of the view that unless Pakistan government takes control of the military and Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, there won’t be any significant improvement in the situation at the India-Pakistan border, reported India Today.

“I believe there is a need for one more action (surgical strike) but I would not want to disclose how we want to do it," said the Chief of the Army staff in an interview to India today.

On 29 September 2016, Indian army crossed the Line of Control between India and Pakistan, and destroyed terrorist launchpads across the borders in a surgical strike.

"As long as the Pakistan government can't control its Army and the ISI [Inter-Services Intelligence], the situation at the border won't improve," General Rawat said.

General Rawat said that Terrorists are frustrated and hence they are targeting policemen to vent out their frustration, “Targeting policemen shows the terrorists' frustration," he said.

Earlier, on Friday, terrorists had abducted and killed a constable and two special police officers in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A Border Security Force’s soldier was also killed by Pakistani troops earlier this week. Following these developments, Indian government called off a meeting between foreign ministers of India and Pakistan scheduled to be held in New York on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly.

Ministry of External Affairs in a statement said, "The latest brutal killings of our security personnel by Pakistan-based entities and the release of a series of 20 postage stamps by Pakistan glorifying a terrorist and terrorism confirm that Pakistan will not mend its ways,"
