Paramilitary Forces Rushed To Bengal’s North 24 Parganas To Control Communal Unrest Over FB PostRapid Action Police Force of the CRPF.

The Centre yesterday rushed 300 paramilitary personnel (4 July) to contain communal violence that broke out in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal over an “objectionable” post on Facebook.

About 300 personnel of paramilitary forces were rushed to the state to assist the local police in bringing the situation under control.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee confirmed in Kolkata that the clashes between members of two communities have broken out in Baduria in Basirhat sub-division of the district over the post.

The unrest was sparked after Class X student allegedly put up a derogatory post on Facebook on Monday. Police nabbed the boy on Monday evening, but mobs vandalised shops and homes, and blocked major roads in protest. They also demonstrated in front of Baduria police station.
