Prime Minister Narendra Modi may lay the foundation to the Patna Metro Rail in March, the Metro Rail News reports.
The Urban Development Minister in Bihar, Suresh Sharma said on Tuesday (6 February), “While it is not confirmed by the PMO yet, Modiji is likely to lay the foundation of Patna Metro Rail on 3 March”. Sharma, one of senior BJP leaders, said that Modi will be addressing an NDA rally on 3 March, and will lay the foundation of the Patna Metro Rail project.
The cabinet had approved a new Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Patna Metro Rail, and also sanctioned Rs 17,887.56 crore for the project. The Union Government approved the DPR in November 2018.
According to the revised DPR, the first phase will include a 33.1 km long track and two corridors, north-south and east-west.
The east-west corridor would be running to-and-fro from Danapur to the Patna Railway station via Dakbungalow Square, and the north-south would be running from the Inter-State Bus Terminal to Gandhi Maidan via Askok Rajpath and Rajendra Nagar.
The Patna Rail Project is expected to take five years to complete from the date of the commencement.
