Member of Parliament (MP) in the Rajya, Sabha Subramnian Swamy has urged the Prime Minister to prosecute former finance minister P Chidambaram under the new Black Money Act. In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Modi, the BJP leader has asked for the Chidambaram as well as his son Karthi and wife Nalini to be prosecuted under the new Black Money Act as well as the Benami Act for amassing vast properties across 14 countries including Sri Lanka, Spain and France.
The IT report found that these huge assets were acquired by means of corruption and bribes taken when Chidambaram was the Finance and Home Minister during 2004 to 2014. The vineyards, hotels and farm houses in 14 countries, including London, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Spain, France and Greece, were acquired through black money and abuse of power. Hence apart from charging Chidambaram family under the Prevention of Corruption Act, DA case and PMLA it is necessary to prosecute them under the new Black Money Act and the Benami Act.Subramanian Swamy
He further asked the PM to direct Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia to prosecute the former minister.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
