Pulwama Is The Biggest Hunting Ground For JeM And LeT Jihadists, Says Government Report

Terrorist groups based in Pakistan, including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) among others, recruited the most number of locals from Pulwama of Jammu and Kashmir in 2018 and 2019, according to a report prepared by security agencies, reports Hindustan Times.

According to the report, 63 locals were recruited from Pulwama in 2018 and two more this year. With 46 locals joining terror groups in 2018 and none this year, Shopian district was the second hotbed for terror recruitment.

The report by security agencies also revealed that the maximum number of terrorists killed in 2019 belonged to the JeM. As per the report, 15 terrorists of the Masood Azhar-led JeM were killed this year. The security forces were also successful in killing 10 terrorists each of the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and LeT in the counter-terrorism operations in 2019.

As per the report, the JeM had last year recruited 33 locals from the Kashmir valley while HM and LeT inducted 79 and 66 local youth respectively in 2018.
