Rebel Congress MLA from Rae Bareli Aditi Singh on Tuesday (9 February) donated a sum of Rs 51 lakh for the construction of the grand Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, ANI has reported.

While making the donation to the VHP as part of the Ram Mandir Nidhi Samarpan, Singh said that she has made this contribution on behalf of her team and supporters.

"I am making this contribution to VHP on behalf of my team and supporters. Everyone has contributed for this", Singh said.

Singh a Congress MLA from Rae Bareli has in recent times has turned a rebel within the party.

She had recently questioning the prolonged absence of interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi from her parliamentary constituency.

"Sonia Gandhi came to Rae Bareli only twice after winning the election in the last five-year term. She has come to Rae Bareli only once before the 2019 elections to file her nomination," Singh told reporters.

In the past Singh had slammed her own party over the ongoing 1,000 buses for migrant controversy and in another tweet praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

In May of last year she was suspended from Congress' Women Wing and had edited her Twitter profile, removing Indian National Congress from it.
