Reliance Industries plans to embed its e-commerce app JioMart with Facebook-owned WhatsApp within six months, reports NDTV.
The Mukesh Ambani-owned conglomerate is reportedly looking to ramp up its retail and grocery business in the country, moving away from its mainstay oil and energy business.
Last year, Reliance had raised about $26 billion from investors like Google and Facebook for its digital and retail arms as it takes on Amazon and Walmart-backed Flipkart in India. Facebook invested $5.7 billion for a 9.99 per cent stake in Jio Platforms last year.
The integration of JioMart with WhatsApp will allow hundreds of millions of users to order products from Reliance without having to leave the app. This will give Reliance access to 400 million users of WhatsApp had in India.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
