Indian security forces killed seven terrorists including three top commanders in two separate encounters on Sunday (25 November), as reported by Indian Express.

Those who were killed include three reported top commanders and two Pakistani terrorists. The Police claimed that the terrorists who died in the Shopian district included men responsible for the killing of Lt Ummer Fayaz, in 2017.

This was the security forces’ second blow to the terrorists, with the forces killing six terrorists in an encounter on Friday (23 November).

Army personnel Lance Naik Nazir Ahmad, a two-time winner of the Sena Medal, was also killed while firing at the terrorists.

With the killing of the Shopian terrorists, “all notorious terrorists of the belt have been successfully eliminated”, police said. “These terrorists were involved in a series of terror crimes in the area,” IGP, Kashmir, S P Pani said.

A police statement claimed that the terrorists killed in the encounters belonged to Lashkar-E-Taiba and Hizbul- Mujahideen. A total of 16 terrorists have been killed over the past week in South Kashmir. Shopian district has witnessed the killing of 48 terrorists so far this year.
