After facing criticism for absence of Shiv Sena leaders at a public meeting of farmers held in Mumbai last week, Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut will meet farmers protesting at the Ghazipur on Tuesday (02 February), reports Hindustan Times.
“Kisan Andolan Zindabad! Will visit protesting farmers at Ghazipur today at 1 pm. Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan!,” Sanjay Raut tweeted.
In the following tweet he said that “the Maha Vikas Aghadi government has taken several decisions in favour of farmers. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has always stood by them. On his instructions, I am visiting Ghazipur border to meet the farmers.”
The Shiv Sena has been supporting the protesting farmers who are agitating at Delhi’s border points for over two months against the Modi government’s three farm reform laws.
Ghazipur border site between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh has become the focal point of farmers' protest after the violence across the capital on the Republic Day.
Bharatiya Kisan Union members and its leader Rakesh Tikait have occupied a stretch of the Delhi - Meerut highway since November 2020.
On the other hand, a database of all the people who went to Ghazipur protest site from the villages of western Uttar Pradesh is being prepared by Uttar Pradesh police.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
