A concert by T M Krishna in New Delhi scheduled to be organised on Saturday, 17 November has been called off after criticism from several organisations. Krishna was scheduled to perform at the ‘Dance and Music in the Park’ festival at Nehru Park in the national capital. The event is organised by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and SPIC-MACAY.
Chairman of AAI Guruprasad Mohapatra was quoted by The Indian Express as saying, “We have some issues. Some exigency has come up and we are not free that day. Whatever note we have given in the media, that is all, there is nothing more I want to say on this.”
Krishna has lately been in a cultural appropriation controversy after he announced that he will be produce Carnatic songs about Jesus and Allah. Another of the controversial singer’s programme at a US temple was cancelled earlier.
However, as news about the programme cancellation spread, Delhi’s Arvind Kejriwal led government offered to host the controversial singer instead, News 18 reported.
The singer, who is active on Twitter, has since retweeted several messages about the Delhi Chief Minister’s offer.
More power to @tmkrishna. Delhi give him a place to sing on November 17 and defeat the trolls. https://t.co/GaLGQrwSZr

Social media had been abuzz with the tag #DisinviteTMKrishna ever since the details of the AAI’s programme became public and AAI’s cancellation of the event has again led to divided opinions.
However those moralizing today on T.M. Krishna issue would do well to remember what truly fascist regimes, like the one ran by Sonia Gandhi, do. This is just one such example of what they did with an artists of @sonal_mansingh stature. https://t.co/erkSG5zZUT 2/2 pic.twitter.com/TodA1hV6B1
