Instagram plans to enter the race of e-commerce which will soon add ‘buy’ feature in the mobile app for Indian users next year, as reported by Business Insider.
If you click on the ‘buy’ button, you will be redirected to partner retailer sites. On the go, it will add features to complete transaction inside the app. It plans to integrate payment gateways as well.
Previously, Instagram added the swipe up feature in its stories with which users can redirect to specified websites. Interestingly, many users used it to redirect the audience to the retailer website. India is the second-largest user market for Instagram.
In September, Instagram was said to be developing a standalone shopping app for the US market. The app would be designed to facilitate users to buy directly from the feed.
Instagram has helped a lot of retailers in the US by establishing themselves on Instagram, compared to regular expensive marketing.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
