The iconic Statue of Unity, built in honour of India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallahbhai Patel, has garnered more than five million visitors in just 553 working days.
The official twitter handle providing updates on the world’s talent statue revealed these rousing numbers on Tuesday and even expressed that the monument has become one of the most popular tourist destinations across the world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, credited for masterminding this project, mentioned that Kevadia is a must-visit place and urged people to plan a trip to the town in the Narmada district of Gujarat whenever possible.

Kevadia hosts the Statue of Unity and is a tribal-dominated area. However, the central government has been actively working towards a gradual transformation of the region. PM Modi had flagged off eight trains that connect different parts of the country to Kevadia in January this year.
He had hailed the town to be a prime example of a planned economic and ecological development that abides to environmental demands as well.
Excellent!

Speaking on the development journey of Kevadiya, the Prime Minister had claimed that “Statue of Unity is attracting more tourist than even Statue of Liberty.” He had estimated that around one lakh visitors will flock the town on a daily basis upon the improvement of its connectivity and the recent numbers are a testament to that assertion.
