Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi today (22 April) interacted with BJP leaders and asked them to desist from speaking out of turn over issues to avoid embarrassment to the party.
PM Modi asked the BJP karyakartas to be careful while speaking to the media and not to get excited at the sight of a cameraperson. He said that the media was not at fault for picking up on the ‘masala’ supplied by leaders.

The PM’s statement comes at the heels of several controversial statements by BJP leaders that have led the party to be ridiculed in media and social media space.
He urged his party colleagues to let party spokespersons handle the task of interacting with media as every slip made by a leader tarnishes the image of the party as well as the country and diverts attention from the real issue.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
