Students’ Chance To Be Creative: HRD To Set Up Cell At AICTE To Promote Indian Innovation, Improve Global Rankings

To promote innovation in all higher educational institutions across (HEI’s) across the country, the HRD ministry established an innovation cell at the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), and HRD Minister Prakash Javedakar reportedly launched it through video conferencing.

Stating that this initiative of their government is an essential step in institutionalising innovations and developing the country’s scientific temper, he added that its purpose is to create a network of Institution’s Innovation Councils (IICs) to expose students to a wide range of innovative and inspiring ideas in the formative years.

“More than 1,000 HEIs have already formed IICs in their campuses and enrolled for the IIC network managed by MHRD’s innovation cell to promote innovation through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in their campuses,” he said, as reported by Indian Express.

He elucidated that varsities are the main research centres of developed countries due to which they are topping global innovation rankings. He described setting up of universities with improvement in ranking as the focus of IIC program.
