The Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) has announced that it would oppose the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) proposed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) said that the UCC is part of the BJP's divisive politics.
The announcement came after a meeting with a delegation of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board led by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi.
Ministers KT Rama Rao, Mahmood Ali and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi were also present during the meeting.
The BRS announcement comes days after the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), which is part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) said that it would oppose the UCC.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
