In a gory incident, visuals of mass cow slaughter near Siddipet town of Telangana have emerged on social media.
On Friday, locals found cows slaughtered at a poultry farm in Old Pullur road on the outskirts of Siddipet town. Many cows were seen among blood flowing like a stream and other skinned bodies of cows that were already killed.
As the news got circulated through social media, the activists of VHP, Bajrang Dal, Hindu Vahini and other Hindu organizations have reached the spot. They have held a bike rally in the town protesting against the act and demanded strict action against the culprits.
Finance Minister Harish Rao who represents Siddipet constituency has condemned the incident. He directed officials to shift the remaining cows to a nearby goshala and take action against those responsible.
Siddipet Commissioner of Police Joel Davis said that eight persons were arrested by the police. Around 40 cows were brought to the poultry farm for slaughter.
As directed by the minister, he said, the remaining cows were rescued and sent to a goshala.
Reacting to the incident, netizens have demanded stringent measures to deter cow slaughtering. Recently, Karnataka has legislated an anti-Cow slaughter Act to protect cows. The stringent law mandates three to seven years of imprisonment, and or a fine of upto Rs 5 lakh for the guilty.
