Forty-first US President George H.W. Bush, who served from 1989 to 1993 and also as Vice President from 1981 to 1989, has decided to vote for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in the upcoming 8 November election.
Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend, the former Maryland lieutenant governor and daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy, revealed this information on social media.
Townsend posted a picture on her Facebook page next to the 92-year-old former president with the caption: “The President told me he’s voting for Hillary!!” She met with Bush in Maine earlier on Monday, where she said he made his preference known that he was voting for a Democrat.
During the hard-fought primaries, Trump had viciously attacked Bush Sr’s son Jeb Bush, calling him “low energy”. He had also trained his guns at Bush Jr for his decision to invade Iraq. Neither George H.W. Bush nor his son, former President George W. Bush, attended the Republican National Convention held in July in Cleveland where Trump accepted the nomination.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
