In an interview given to the Press Trust of India (PTI), Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would not be able to win a single seat in the state on its own.
He said that no one in the state considered the BJP to be the principal opposition as the BJP had not grown in stature in the state and it was only trying to create an image that it had done so.
When asked about the four MLAs that the BJP has in the state assembly, Stalin said that the BJP had won those seats only because of the help of its alliance partner, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
Further, regarding the relationship between the BJP and the AIADMK, he said 'BJP attempts to grow by controlling AIADMK. It is not only a weak strategy but also a wrong one.'
Stalin's statements come at a time when there have been signs that the state BJP wants to contest the upcoming elections without allying with AIADMK.
