According to a report, despite being among the most trusted nations globally with respect to media, government, business and NGOs, Indian brands are among the least trusted. The Edelman Trust Barometer Report, 2019, was released ahead of the highly anticipated World Economic Forum (WEF) meet, reports The Financial Express.
With scores of 79 and 88 respectively, China topped the trust Index among both the informed public and the general population segments. India came second in the informed public category and third in the general population category.
The findings of the index are based on an online survey conducted in 27 markets covering over 33,000 respondents. The Index is calculated by taking the average per cent of trust in governments, media, business and NGOs in a country. The fieldwork required for the Index was conducted between 16 November 2017 and 19 October 2018. As per the report, companies headquartered in India along with Mexican and Brazilian companies are the least trusted.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
