UN’s Postal Administration To Issue Special Stamps Commemorating Diwali

United Nations postal agency will issue special stamps in October to commemorate Diwali. The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) will issue a New York special event sheet on 19 October to commemorate the Indian festival reports The Indian Express.
“Diwali, also known as Deepawali, is the joyous and popular festival of lights, which is celebrated in India and across the world by followers of many faiths,” said the UN agency.
India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Syed Akbaruddin also took to twitter to welcome the initiative:

The stamp sheet features the United Nations Headquarters building illuminated with the message of “Happy Diwali” in the background to celebrate the spirit of the festival. The sheet in the denomination of $1.15 contains ten stamps and tabs featuring festive lights and the symbolic lamps known as ‘diyas’.
As written in the release, the stamps would be available for purchase in either mint or cancelled condition.
