A sub-inspector and three constables were injured when some people attacked them while they were trying to enforce lockdown in Morna area in Muzaffarnagar on Wednesday (1 April).
According to reports, the sub-inspector, Lekhraj Singh, has been shifted to Meerut in a critical condition.
Eyewitnesses said that some people were roaming on the streets when the police officers tried to make them go back.
Angered by this, they attacked the cops with rods and lathis and beat them up. The miscreants fled after the attack.
Three persons, including a former village head, have been detained in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, the police have started a search operation to nab other accused.
Circle Officer Ram Mohan Singh said that all the attackers have been identified and will be nabbed soon.
The nationwide 21-day lockdown was announced on 24 March by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a bid to curb the spread of the Coronavirus.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
