Continuing its crackdown on mafia in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath-led government has now taken action against Ashiq Ali alias Malli -- a close associate of former member of the Lok Sabha and gangster, Atique Ahmed, in Prayagraj.
Malli, reportedly a history sheeter, has nearly more than two dozen cases against him in the surrounding districts.
A development authority officer told the local press that Malli had not allegedly got a plan for this particular house, so action was taken, and the illegal construction was razed down by bulldozers.
The house, situated in the Ghumanganj area in Prayagraj, was valued at Rs 2 crore.
The local police and the development authority worked together to take action. Three machines were deployed to bring down the construction in an hour.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
