United States (US)' Secretary of State Michael Pompeo said on Sunday (31 May)that the US could partner with several nations across the globe including India to counter the threat posed by Chinese military, reports Asian News International (ANI).

Taking note that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s military advances are real, Secretary Pompeo asserted that President Xi Jinping who is also the General Secretary of the CPP is intent on building out his military capabilities.

Secretary Pompeo expressed confidence that the US military and national security establishment could protect the American people, while also asserting that the US could become good partners with allies like India, Australia, South Korea, Japan, Brazil, Europe and all around the world.

Responding to a question on the ongoing border dispute and simmering tensions between India and China, Secretary Pompeo said, "The CCP has been on this effort, on this march, for an awfully long time. They'll certainly use a technical situation on the ground to their advantage."

Pompeo further said, "For the first time, we have an administration that's prepared to actually respond to say this is unacceptable and to take responses that are measured, appropriate, but reflect the seriousness with which we take the obligation to protect the American people from these Chinese Communist Party efforts."
