Vande Bharat Mission: India Brings Back 1,667 Indians Stranded Abroad In Eight Nations On Day 5

On the fifth day of the Vande Bharat Mission undertaken by the government to bring back Indians from abroad, as many as 1,667 Indian nations were repatriated from London, San Francisco, Manila, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Dhaka and Abu Dhabi yesterday (11 May), reports ANI.

A total of eight special Air India flights carried out the job in close coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian missions serving abroad.

While a maximum of 657 individuals were brought back from London in two flights, 225 other Indians were brought back from San Francisco in first such flight operation between India and the United States (US).

Meanwhile, 180 Indians were brought back from Kuala Lumpur to Chennai, 107 from Bangladesh, 150 from Manila and 170 from Abu Dhabi. Another 178 Indians were also brought back from Dubai to Kochi.

Already in its sixth day, the Vande Bharat Mission is touted to be the biggest ever repatriation mission undertaken by the government since Independence.
