Pakistan is expected to buy the Russian-made Pantsir Missile System which is a medium-range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery weapon system to bolster its defences against India's rising in military might, reports Financial Express.
The Pantsir Missile System is equipped with a multitude of radars for tackling and target-locating. The system is capable of providing protection to military installations against enemy aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles and UAVs.
Earlier this year, the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) had given approval for 54 Israeli HAROP attack drones for Indian Air Force (IAF) which have the capability of crashing into high-value enemy military targets and destroying them completely. The Pantsir Missile System can provide deterrence to Pakistani installations against India in this respect.
A delegation from Pakistan is expected to visit Moscow soon to finalise the deal which includes the purchase of not just the Pantsir Missile System but also of T-90 tanks which Pakistan wishes to place along the Indian borders.
Meanwhile, India has raised its concerns with Russia against the latter's strengthening military ties with Pakistan. The two nations even held joint military exercises which were closely watched by Indian observers.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
