Well known Congress supporter Tehseen Poonawalla ripped into senior party leader Mani Shankar Aiyar during a recent TV debate in which both were taking part. Poonawalla accused Aiyar of being the reason for the party’s debacle and also questioned the Congress for not giving a bigger role to young leaders.
Haaaw so @tehseenp called Mani Shankar Aiyar deadwood to his face .... watch the victims facial expressions ... priceless ... poor Dugong is stunned, Saba trying hard to not laugh & Nidhi canât even look at the camera lest she start guffawing ðð𤪠pic.twitter.com/wsrHCmNEHW

In the clip, Poonawalla criticised the party for sending “redundant leaders” like Kumar Ketkar to the Rajya Sabha while other leaders like Milind Deora and Rajiv Shukla lose out. He claimed that the party was wrong to make Priyanka Vadra the East Uttar Pradesh general secretary where it did not have an effective cadre.
He then trained his guns on Mani Shankar Aiyar - also part of the debate, by calling him a cause of the party’s debacle. Calling Aiyar an arrogant deadwood who sits on his high horse, Poonawalla claimed that he lives in a bygone era and does not understand new India.
Poonawalla also acknowledged that the Chaiwalla jibe by Aiyar prior to the 2014 Lok Sabha poll, resulted in massive sympathy for Prime Minister Modi.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
