Early trends have suggested a neck on neck battle between the BJP and TMC in West Bengal.
As per early trends reported by India Today, as of 9.30 AM, the TMC is leading in 107 seats, closely followed by BJP which is leading in 105 seats. The Congress-CPM alliance is leading on a partly two seats.
It should be noted that these are very early trends which are mostly guided by postal ballots.
Of all the electoral battles, the battle for Bengal has emerged as the limelight hogger with BJP attempting to dethrone Mamata Banerjee led TMC. The BJP which was a non-entity in West Bengal until a few years ago, had won 18 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. In contrast it had won just three seats in the last assembly polls in the state.
