In a sickening video from the state of West Bengal, a woman teacher from Gangrampur village of West Bengal's South Dinajpur District is seen tied at her knees with rope and dragged over a country road by men led by a ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) panchayat leader, reports India.com,
The ordeal did not end there and when the victim’s sister protested, she too was thrown to the ground and pulled by the arms and abused by the men led by Amal Sarkar.
The woman who was dragged by the Local TMC leader is a primary school teacher. She has now registered a police complaint against five people who allegedly assaulted her after they forcefully tried to acquire her land in West Bengal's South Dinajpur district.
An investigation into the matter is underway and as per reports TMC has expelled Sarkar, who stands accused of being a part of the group which assaulted the teacher.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
