WHO Joins US In Praising India’s Efforts To Supply COVID-19 Vaccines To Other Nations

India's drive to provide supplies of COVID-19 vaccines to a score of nations has drawn praises from the World Health Organisation (WHO)'s Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus among several other world leaders and nations like the United States (US), reports Times of India.

Dr Tedros yesterday took to Twitter and said, "Thank you India and PM Narendra Modi for your continued support to the global COVID-19 response. only if we #ACTogether, including sharing of knowledge, can we stop this virus and save lives and livelihoods."

The positive remark from Dr Tedros comes as India has so far supplied 13 nations with COVID-19 vaccines, including nations like Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, Myanmar, Brazil, Bhutan and many more. In addition to supplying vaccines, India is also engaged in training of immunisation programme managers over the use of vaccines and all other aspects of the vaccine rollout.

The US too had lauded India's decision to gift vaccines to several nations. It had said that India is a "true friend" which is using its pharma industry to help the global community put an end to COVID-19.

Similarly, Brazilian President Jair M Bolsonaro too had taken to Twitter and had tweeted a picture of Lord Hanuman ferrying vaccines like Sanjeevani Booti, emphasising, "Brazil feels honoured to have a great partner to overcome a global obstacle by joining efforts. Thank you for assisting us with the vaccine exports from India to Brazil."
