In her latest attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee targeted him for the decision to stop serving non-vegetarian food in economy class on Air India’s domestic flights, reports DNA.
"Air India does not serve non-vegetarian food in economy class. Only business class passengers are entitled to have chicken. Why will Modi babu decide what others will eat?" said Banerjee at a public gathering in Murshidabad.
Air India had removed non-vegetarian food from its menus in 2017 citing cost-cutting and preventing wastage as reasons.
She also accused Modi of “unleashing a reign of fear” on the country; the Trinamool leader claimed that Modi’s prime ministership was unprecedented for inspiring fear rather than respect.
Banerjee also reiterated her support to opposition leaders, asserting that the central government was misusing its powers against them.
"It is a shame that BJP is using central agencies against opposition leaders and parties to harass them. Yesterday, the Income Tax (department) without any reason raided Kanimozhi's house,” she said.
