India on Saturday (20 June) recorded the highest single-day tally of 15,203 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, taking the total count of positive cases so far beyond four lakhs, reports Times of India.
The total count of confirmed cases on a pan-India basis now stands at 4,10,923. It should be noted that while it took the nation a span of 109 days to add the first lakh cases, the latest one lakh cases have been added in mere eight days.
Apart from this, the nation also recorded 377 fresh deaths, taking the total count of the lives lost to COVID-19 to over 13,000 mark. The total number of such casualties now stands at 13,183.
Meanwhile, on the positive side, the recovery rate now stands at 55.4% with as many as 2,27,705 cases having completely recovered from COVID-19.
However, Delhi and Maharashtra remain a matter of concern as both recorded their highest single-day tally of fresh confirmed cases yesterday, with former reporting 3,630 cases, and latter reporting 3,874 cases.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
