Karnataka Congress leaders' recent expression of vociferous support and solidarity for neighbouring state of Kerala in the aftermath of devastating landslides in Wayanad's Mundakkai has not been well received by many Kannadigas.

Many people expressed frustration at the alleged ignorance of Karnataka's plight and issues from state Congress leaders while they found ample time for expressing sorrow over Wayanad's predicament.

In a post over X, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated, "Deeply saddened by the catastrophic floods in Wayanad. My heart goes out to the affected families. Karnataka is committed to providing all possible help to Kerala in this challenging time. Let's stand united and strong."

Earlier, the Karnataka Chief Minister had also urged corporates to donate generously for the victims of Kerala landslides and their rehabilitation.

Echoing similar sentiments, K J George, Minister of Energy for Karnataka stated, "To see the landslides that have left #Wayanad in deep despair is heartbreaking. Many lives have been lost. Our hearts go out for the people of Wayanad whose lives have been affected by the the extremely devastating circumstances."

These tweets invited umbrage from netizens with many accusing the state government and its leaders for being vocal over distress faced by the neighbouring state while being passive when Karnataka faced calamities such as Kodagu landslides in coastal Karnataka.

One X user fumed, "Hmm and your heart seems to be missing in #Karnataka! No comment on recent life losses in state which made your political career! Yet your heart only beats for your native state! #WayanadLandslide."

Yet another netizen while taking a dig at Congress leaders stated, "Kerala First, Karnataka second.."..Ministers of Karnataka Govt."

In 2018, Kodagu in coastal Karnataka was hit by massive landslides which ruined hundreds of acres of coffee plantations and flatened many houses to the ground. Recently, strong rains had ravaged Karnataka's Hassan district leading to multiple landslide incidents in Sakleshpur taluk.
