After a series of explosions occurred at a convention centre in Kalamassery, Kerala, on Sunday (29 October), an individual named Dominic Martin turned himself in to the police, confessing to being the perpetrator of the deadly blasts.

According to the state police, the accused in the case has claimed to be affiliated with the same group that organised the Jehovah's Witnesses prayer meeting at the Zamra International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

During the prayer meeting, there were explosions that resulted in the death of one person and left at least 36 others injured.

The police are currently examining Martin's claim and investigating all other aspects related to the explosions.

“One person has surrendered in Kodakra police station, in Thrissur Rural, claiming that he has done it. His name is Dominic Martin and he claims that he belonged to the same group of sabha. We are verifying it. We are looking into all aspects of this case," Kerala ADGP (law and order) MR Ajith Kumar told reporters.

In response to the explosions in Kerala, authorities in Delhi increased security measures at churches. The police in the national capital declared a state of "high alert" and implemented enhanced surveillance in crowded areas.

Reports stated that the police in Mumbai have issued an alert, as well. In light of the Israel-Hamas tensions, security has been heightened around Chabad House, a Jewish centre in the city, according to the police.
