750 Km Panipat–Gorakhpur Expressway Work Likely To Begin By March; DPR Nears Completion: Report

Preparations for the 750 km Panipat–Gorakhpur Expressway are gathering pace, with construction expected to commence by March next year, according to a Jagran report.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has almost completed the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the corridor, which will soon be reviewed by senior Uttar Pradesh government officials before receiving final clearance.

Once operational, the Panipat–Gorakhpur Expressway will be the longest access-controlled expressway in Uttar Pradesh, traversing 22 districts across the state.

The project aims to enhance regional connectivity and streamline travel between Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal.

Construction is likely to be divided into around ten packages, ensuring faster and more efficient implementation.

The expressway will pass through several key districts including Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Bijnor, Meerut, Amroha, Sambhal, Bareilly, Rampur, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Sitapur, Lucknow, Balrampur, Bahraich, Siddharthnagar, and Sant Kabir Nagar, before terminating at Gorakhpur.

The expressway is being designed with limited entry and exit points, allowing for smoother traffic flow and enhanced safety.

It will also connect seamlessly with other major corridors such as the Purvanchal Expressway, Delhi–Meerut Expressway, and the proposed Gorakhpur–Siliguri Expressway, forming a continuous high-speed network across northern India.

Senior NHAI officials indicated that the project contract is expected to be awarded by March, marking the formal start of construction.
