Tamil film actor Karthi apologised to Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan regarding his remarks referring to the Tirupati laddu issue.

At a pre-release event for his upcoming movie, Karthi laughed and said, “We should not talk about laddu now. It is a sensitive topic. I don’t want it."

He made the remarks after an anchor for the event presented a few memes, with one being about laddus.

While some said that Karthi was just trying to stay away from the topic, others said that he should have been sensitive and serious about an issue that concerns the faith of Hindus.

Responding to Karthi's remarks, Kalyan said that he should not have made such comments:

"People are making jokes about laddus. I saw one such in a cinema function saying that laddu is a sensitive issue. Don't you ever say that. No. Don't you ever dare to say that. Please. I respect you as actors, but when it comes to Sanatana Dharma, you have to think a hundred times before saying a word.”

In a post on X, Karthi wrote that he is a devotee of the Lord Venkateswara and apologised for any misunderstanding that was caused by his remarks:

"Dear @PawanKalyan sir, with deep respects to you, I apologize for any unintended misunderstanding caused. As a humble devotee of Lord Venkateswara, I always hold our traditions dear. Best regards."
