After Brunei Visit, Prime Minister Modi Lands In Singapore: What's On The Agenda

After concluding his visit to Brunei, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (4 September) landed in Singapore for a two-day visit.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Landed in Singapore. Looking forward to the various meetings aimed at boosting the India-Singapore friendship. India’s reforms and the talent of our Yuva Shakti makes our nation an ideal investment destination. We also look forward to closer cultural ties”.

PM Modi will participate in a round table with Singaporean business leaders and interact with Singapore’s semiconductor ecosystem players during the trip.

During this visit, the bilateral relationship between the two countries is likely to be elevated to a 'Comprehensive Strategic Partnership'.

India is also looking to build synergies in semiconductor sector and skilling with these ecosystems in Singapore.

PM Modi and his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong will visit AEM holdings. PM Modi will also be briefed on the semiconductor ecosystem in Singapore and both the leaders will exchange views on the upcoming Semiconductor ecosystem in India.

Further, MoUs will be signed and cooperation will happen in manpower skilling in Semiconductor sector.

Earlier in the day, during his Brunei trip, PM Modi held bilateral talks with the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, at the Istana Nurul Iman, the latter's official residence in the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan.

"We have decided to focus on mutual cooperation in agriculture, industry, pharma and health, as well as technology and cyber security. In the energy sector, we discussed the possibilities of long-term cooperation in LNG," PM Modi said.

He said that the two leaders also held talks to enhance cooperation in the defence and space sectors as well.
