After Zee Studios removed the Tamil movie "Annapoorani" from the Netflix platform, an FIR was filed against actor Nayanthara and the film's director and producers at Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur.

With the allegations of hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus, the FIR also accused the movie of disrespecting Lord Ram and promoting 'love jihad', NDTV reported.

Hindu Sewa Parishad's FIR names seven accused, including Nayanthara, director Nilesh Krishnaa, producers Jatin Sethi and R Ravindran, and Netflix India's content hear Monika Shergill.

The FIR says that the movie insulted Sanatana Dharma and made baseless remarks about Lord Ram. A clip of the movie is also going viral in which Nayanthara is being brainwashed to cut meat as her friend claims that Lord Ram and Goddess Sita also consumed meat.

The movie was released in theatres on 1 December and streaming on Netflix began on 29 December. However, it faced backlash and now two complaints against Nayanthara and others have also been filed in Mumbai by Bajrang Dal and Hindu IT Cell.

"Annapoorani" narrates the journey of a Hindu girl striving to become a chef while grappling with challenges tied to her family's religious practices.

Certain scenes, such as the mispronunciation of a sloka from the Ramayana and the depiction of the lead character offering Namaz before cooking Biryani, sparked controversy.

The portrayal of the relationship between the characters Farhaan (Jai) and Annapoorani led to the accusations of Love Jihad. Notably, the film is hailed as Nayanthara's 75th milestone project.

Trident Arts, in collaboration with Zee Studios, had supported the film, featuring a star-studded cast including Achyuth Kumar, KS Ravikumar, Redin Kingsley, Sathyaraj, and Karthik Kumar.
