Army Vehicles Targeted In Fresh Terror Attack In Jammu-Kashmir's Akhnoor, CM Omar Abdullah Warns Pakistan

In Jammu and Kashmir’s Battal area near Akhnoor, terrorists launched an attack on an Indian Army ambulance. The Jammu and Kashmir Police (J&K Police) reported spotting three suspected terrorists near Assam Mandir in Battal, who fired multiple rounds at the vehicle.

In response, the area has been cordoned off, and a joint search operation involving J&K Police and security forces is underway to locate the assailants.

The official X account of the Indian Army’s 16 Corps, White Knight Corps, confirmed the incident and noted that - “Terrorists fired upon a convoy near #Asan, #Sunderbani Sector, targeting Army vehicles in the morning.

Swift retaliation by own troops ensured foiling of the attempt ensuring no injuries. The area has been cordoned off, and a search operation to neutralize the terrorists is ongoing.” 

As of now, no Injury or casualty has been reported due to the attack on the Army’s Vehicle.

Jammu and Kashmir has seen a series of attacks in the past week, after the much-anticipated results of the assembly elections.

On Thursday (24 October) evening, a terror attack targeted an Army vehicle just a few kilometers from the tourist hotspot of Baramulla district, killing two Army personnel and two civilian porters.

A similar attack followed on 20 October 2024, in which seven people were killed in Kashmir's Ganderbal district when terrorists opened fire at the victims at the Z-Morh tunnel construction site.

National Conference president Farooq Abdullah targeted Pakistan for the uptick in terrorist attacks in Kashmir. 

“If they [Pakistan] think they can achieve anything with this, they are only destroying themselves and us. J&K will never be part of Pakistan. J&K chose India in 1947. Such actions are detrimental to all Muslims and the broader community in Kashmir,” Abdullah said.
