Two accused in the killing of gangster Chandan Mishra inside a Patna hospital were injured in a police encounter in Bhojpur district, Bihar, on Tuesday (22 July) morning, reported Hindustan Times.
The Special Task Force (STF) intercepted the group near Katiya Road around 5 am. When the accused opened fire, police retaliated, injuring Balwant Kumar Singh (22) and Ravi Ranjan Singh (20), both seen in the viral CCTV footage of the 17 July murder.
Following their initial treatment at Ara Sadar Hospital, doctors referred both shooters to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). According to officials, Ravi Ranjan was injured by a gunshot to the thigh, while Balwant was injured in the hands and feet.
Police Confirm Accused Identities
Satyaprakash, the DIG of Shahabad Range, confirmed the accused's names. Balwant is a named suspect in the Chandan Mishra murder case. He claimed that Patna police had posted a proclamation order at his house on Saturday (19 July). Ravi Ranjan is from Bhojpur, whilst Balwant is from Buxar.
The STF arrested another associate, Abhishek Kumar, during the encounter. Police recovered three firearms, two magazines and four live cartridges from the spot.
Chandan Mishra, a convicted murderer out on parole, was gunned down inside a Patna private hospital’s ICU by five armed men on 17 July. Earlier, police arrested the prime accused Tauseef alias Badshah, his cousin Nishu Khan, and two aides from Kolkata.
