A letter penned by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha to her father and party chief K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) critiquing his speech at the foundation day celebrations of the party, has surfaced, exposing tensions between the two.

According to a report by The Hindu, the six-page handwritten letter, scribbled in both Telugu and English, was likely to have been written during Kavitha’s visit to the U.S. for her elder son's graduation ceremony and came to light just before her return to Hyderabad.

The timing and manner of the letter’s leak have sparked speculation, with political observers noting there was no practical reason for her to write to her father rather than discuss the issues in person, suggesting the disclosure may have been intentional.

In the letter, Kavitha critiques KCR's speech during the programme, particularly his brief two-minute criticism of the BJP. She expressed concern that the subdued tone fueled speculation about a possible future alliance between BRS and BJP.

With Congress weakening at the grassroots level, she noted, many in the BRS now see the BJP as a viable alternative.

Kavitha also questioned the party's decision not to contest the Hyderabad Local Authorities MLC election, which she argued sent the wrong message and benefited the BJP.

Addressing organisational concerns, she pointed out that party members at various levels feel access to the leadership is selective.

She criticised the reuse of old in-charges for major events, calling the recent "dhoom dham" meeting a failure, and urged that long-standing leaders be given visibility.

She also highlighted omissions in her father’s speech, including issues like the Waqf Act, BC reservations, SC sub-categorisation, and speaking in Urdu.
